Several Chinese provincial-level regions achieved robust GDP growth in the first three quarters of 2023, offering more signs of a continuous solid recovery in the world's second-largest economy.

Of the 21 provinces that have released their GDP figures for the first three quarters, 13 saw their GDP numbers exceed the 5.2 percent national average growth rate.

South China's Hainan province registered a 9.5 percent growth－the highest among these regions, followed by Inner Mongolia at 7.2 percent, Gansu province at 6.6 percent and Sichuan province at 6.5 percent.

Another highlight was growth of 5.3 percent in Northeast China's Liaoning Province, which has seen sustained downward pressure in recent years. This also marks the first time in ten years that the province's GDP growth exceeded the "national line" during the same period.

In terms of economic aggregate, South China's Guangdong province, an economic powerhouse, recorded 9.62 trillion yuan in its GDP and took the top spot. The GDP of Shandong and Zhejiang provinces reached 6.81 trillion yuan and 5.92 trillion yuan, ranking second and third, respectively.

Overall, accelerating growth in provincial-level regions pointed to the sustained recovery of the Chinese economy, highlighted various aspects of China's high-quality development, analysts said.

Hainan's fast growth, for instance, underscored benefits from high-level opening-up, as the free trade port opened up more sectors and improved its business environment to attract global investors. Meantime, the added value of Guangdong’s advanced manufacturing grew by 4.5 percent, with that of high-end equipment jumping 6.4 percent.

According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, China's GDP grew by 5.2 percent to 91.3 trillion yuan in the January-September period after a 5.5 percent growth in the first half.

In light of better-than-expected growth in the third quarter, many foreign institutions including JP Morgan, Citigroup and Nomura have raised their forecasts for China's growth rate in 2023.

近来，各省份2023年前三季度经济数据密集发布。据不完全统计，截至目前，已有21个省区市公布前三季度GDP等相关数据，公布经济“三季报”的省份个数已过半。

与全国水平相比，已公布数据的21个省区市中，有13个省区市增速快于全国水平，依次为海南（9.5%）、内蒙古（7.2%）、甘肃（6.6%）、四川（6.5%）、宁夏（6.4%）、浙江（6.3%）、安徽（6.1%）、山东（6.0%）、湖北（6.0%）、上海（6.0%）、重庆（5.6%）、青海（5.6%）、辽宁（5.3%），目前海南增速最高，其次为内蒙古。

今年上半年，海南GDP增速达8.6%，居全国第二。海南省统计局副局长卓玲表示，海南省经济一季度实现开门红，二季度稳中向好，三季度延续加快恢复态势，进中提势，经济发展平稳较快的基本面没有变。前三季度全省经济整体呈现“恢复、向好、稳定”之势。

另外，辽宁省统计局副局长侯巍在解读前三季度辽宁省经济数据时表示，辽宁全省GDP增长5.3%，高于全国0.1个百分点，是十年来同期首次超过全国水平。

21个省区市中，与各自上半年GDP增速相比，前三季度，四川、湖北、江西、重庆、贵州、海南等6个省区市增速加快；广东、山东、浙江、上海、北京、云南、辽宁、内蒙古、天津、黑龙江、甘肃、宁夏、青海等13个省区市增速有所放缓；河南、安徽前三季度GDP增速与上半年持平。

第一经济大省广东今年上半年GDP增速（5.0%）较一季度（4.0%）加快，前三季度增速较上半年出现回落。广东省统计局表示，总的来看，前三季度，广东经济运行延续恢复发展态势，高质量发展稳步推进。数据显示，广东规模以上工业增加值2.99万亿元，同比增长3.1%。新动能发展势头较好，先进制造业增加值增长4.5%，增速提高1.2个百分点，其中，先进装备制造业增长6.4%；高技术制造业增加值增长1.3%，增速提高1.8个百分点，其中，电子及通信设备制造业增长4.0%。

从经济总量看，21个省区市中，前三季度，广东GDP总量领先，达96161.63亿元，随后是6万亿元梯队的山东，为68125亿元，浙江GDP接近6万亿元，为59182亿元；河南、四川、湖北为4万亿梯队；安徽、上海、北京为3万亿梯队；江西、重庆、云南、辽宁为2万亿梯队；内蒙古、贵州、天津、黑龙江为万亿梯队。

国家统计局数据显示，初步核算，今年前三季度国内生产总值913027亿元，按不变价格计算，同比增长5.2%。多家外资金融机构，包括摩根士丹利、高盛、德意志银行、摩根大通、澳新银行等也纷纷上调了对中国2023年GDP增速的预测，显示出外资机构对中国经济的信心回升。

The second phase of the 134th Canton Fair in Guangzhou started on Monday and will last till Oct. 27. As of 5 pm yesterday, the total number of overseas buyers attending the fair exceeded 129,000, a substantial increase over the same period of the previous session. The scale of this phase reaches a record high, with 9,674 exhibitors and about 1.2 million exhibits uploaded on the official Canton Fair website. 1,365 exhibitors are attending the fair for the first time, and 949 enterprises are highlighting high-tech, time-honored titles, 57 more than that of the last session.
广交会第二期火热进行中：第134届中国商品进出口交易会(下称“广交会”)第二期23日在广州开展。据介绍，第二期从10月23日—27日，第三期从10月31日—11月4日，第二、第三期侧重消费和美好生活所需产品，为全球采购商一站式采购提供便利。二期展位数量24551个，展览分建材及家具、家庭用品、礼品及装饰品3大板块15个展区，共有9600多家线下参展企业，其中进口展有来自29个国家和地区的200多家企业参展。第二期首次参展企业1365家，获得高新技术、专精特新、中华老字号等称号的企业达949家，比133届新增57家，参展企业结构更优、质量更高。
The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB), which celebrates its fifth anniversary on Tuesday, has facilitated trips of 36 million cross-border travelers and 7.5 million vehicles since its opening on October 24, 2018, according to Gongbei Customs District in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province. As of late September 2023, the total import and export volume through the Zhuhai Highway Port of the bridge amounted to 718.75 billion yuan. From 2018 to 2023, a total of 19.8 million travelers from the two SARs arrived in and departed from the Chinese mainland through the port. In August alone, about 1 million trips were made via the port, 2.2 times increase compared to the same period in 2019.
港珠澳大桥开通4周年：10月23日，港珠澳大桥迎来通车5周年。作为全国唯一一座同时连接港澳的24小时陆路口岸，5年来，珠澳大桥充分发挥三地经贸发展的新引擎、政治文化交流新纽带和居民跨境出行新方式的作用，助力粤港澳大湾区深度融合发展。据拱北海关统计，5年来，往来粤港澳的人员累计3600万人次，车辆750万辆次，经港珠澳大桥珠海公路口岸进出口总值达7187.5亿元。数据显示，港珠澳大桥开通五年来，大桥口岸进出境的港澳居民1980万人次，占比达55%。今年8月份，大桥口岸出入境的港澳居民近100万人次，是2019年同期的2.2倍。目前大桥口岸日均进出境旅客达5万人次，几乎已成为港澳旅游团的首选口岸。据统计，今年以来，港珠澳大桥车辆通行达235万辆次，出入境的港澳居民超过702.1万人次，“港珠澳1小时生活圈”基本形成。

A record high number of executives from leading international businesses are set to attend the sixth China International Import Expo next month, Commerce Vice Minister Sheng Qiuping said Monday. More than 100 top executives from Fortune 500 companies and leading enterprises have confirmed that they will attend the five-day expo that starts in Shanghai on Nov. 5. This year’s CIIE is expected to welcome guests from 154 countries, regions, and international organizations, with 289 Fortune 500 and leading companies set to take part, according to the ministry. Over 3,400 exhibitors and 394,000 trade visitors have registered, and participants from 34 countries who had previously appeared only online will be coming in person for the first time. The exhibition area has increased to about 367,000 square meters, with China’s pavilion growing to cover 2,500 sqm, the biggest ever.

China's State Council on Monday gave approval for Shanghai to establish a pilot zone for Silk Road e-commerce cooperation, days after the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. The State Council said it will give full play to Shanghai's breakthrough role in reform and opening-up, encourage pioneering trials, align with international high-standard trade rules, expand the opening of the e-commerce field and build a new highland for international cooperation in the digital economy.

China's largest vehicle-grid integration network demonstration zone has become operational in the city of Wuxi, east China's Jiangsu Province. It can draw electricity to the smart grid from 50 new energy vehicles (NEV) simultaneously. According to the State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Co., NEV owners can receive subsidies by sending unused power in their vehicles to the grid through charging piles at the demonstration center.
无锡建成国内最大车网互动示范中心：23日消息，由国网江苏电力投资的中国规模最大车网互动示范中心在江苏无锡建成投运，能聚合50辆新能源车对电网反向送电，对促进电网供需平衡、提高电力系统整体运行效率、实现分布式新能源可靠并网等具有重要意义。据介绍，“车网互动”是指电动汽车通过充电桩与电网进行能量信息互动，引导新能源车主有序错峰充电，甚至可反向供电给电网，车主获相应的补贴，从而达到削峰填谷支持电网稳定运行的双赢效果。

The price of Apple's newly-released iPhone 15 series saw a sharp drop of more than 1,000 yuan on China's e-commerce platforms, at a time when the annual "Double Eleven" online shopping spree draws near. On Pinduoduo.com, the price of iPhone 15 with memory storage capacity of 128GB is priced at 5,198 yuan after discount, which is lower than Apple's official retail price of 5,999 yuan, while iPhone 15 Pro with 1 TB storage is sold at 11,298 yuan, down 1,701 yuan from the official price. Prices of the handsets have also been dropped by merchants on JD.Com and Taobao.

DNE Group, a Chinese infrastructure developer, has set up a manufacturing park joint venture for new economy infrastructure with leading global investment firm Bain Capital and a total equity commitment of USD250 million. The JV will focus on developing and operating modern manufacturing parks in China’s core economic hubs, DNE announced today. The seed assets of the platform are distributed across the country’s leading manufacturing hub, the Yangtze River Delta, it added.

Shanghai Disney Resort will open the world’s first Zootopia-themed land on Dec. 20 after three years of construction. The new land will feature Zootopia: Hot Pursuit, an attraction using a trackless riding system featuring Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps, the two protagonists of Zootopia, the Resort announced today. The Zootopia-themed land will be Shanghai Disneyland’s second expansion and its eighth theme park.

Chinese telecom technology company ZTE's net profit for the third quarter of 2023 rose by 5.1 percent year-on-year to 2.37 billion yuan, the firm announced late Monday. However, during the period, the state-owned firm's operating revenue decreased by 12.4 percent to 28.7 billion yuan. For the first three quarters, ZTE's net profit rose 15 percent year-on-year to 7.8 billion yuan. The operating income was 89.4 billion yuan, 3.4 percent down over the previous year.

A-share market rose today after Chinese state fund Central Huijin Investment said on late Monday it had bought exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and will continue to do so, yet without giving much details. Several ETFs, including Huatai-PB CSI 300 ETF and E Fund CSI300 Index ETF saw a jump in volume during the final hour of trading on Monday. Huijin started a round of support two weeks ago by increasing its stake in the Big Four state banks for around 500 million yuan.

Foreign investors are showing signs of reversing this year's poor appetite for Chinese bonds and raised their holdings by 10 billion yuan last month, the first increase after June. As of Sept. 30, foreign institutions held 3.2 trillion yuan of interbank bonds, accounting for about 2.4 percent of the total, according to the latest data from the Shanghai headquarters of the People’s Bank of China. Three new overseas institutions entered the interbank bond market last month to join the total of nearly 1,110 entities as of Sept. 30, data showed.

Chinese stocks rebounded on Tuesday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite gaining 0.8 percent and the Shenzhen Component rising 0.6 percent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index lost 1.1 percent, hitting the lowest level in nearly 11 months, and the TECH index also dropped 1.1 percent.

An exchange-traded fund (ETF) is a type of pooled investment security that operates much like a mutual fund. ETFs can be purchased or sold on a stock exchange the same way that a regular stock can. An ETF can be structured to track anything from the price of an inpidual commodity to a large and perse collection of securities.
“交易型开放式指数证券投资基金”是一种跟踪“标的指数”变化、且在证券交易所上市交易的基金。ETF是一种特殊的开放式基金，投资者可以像买卖封闭式基金或者股票一样在二级市场买卖ETF份额，或向基金管理公司申购或赎回ETF份额。ETF通常由基金管理公司管理，基金资产为一篮子股票组合，组合中的股票种类与某一特定指数（如上证50指数）包含的成份股票相同，股票数量比例与该指数的成份股构成比例一致。
