Innovation remains at the heart of China's modernization. During the ongoing fifth World Media Summit, participants had field trips to explore innovation and high-tech in Guangdong.

At the GAC Technology Museum, the delegates were amazed by concept vehicles and fantastic robots. Some delegates said in the interviews China will have a great future in technology.

Mohamad Malli: China will have a great future in technology

Mohamad Malli (the Manager of Press Center of Ministry of Information of Lebanon): I'm surprised by that because it's very innovative. You have great and good technology. Sometimes I'm not surprised because you have an artistic mind, you have innovative people. You have a great view of the future as well and you have a great history and great culture. I'm sure you will have a great future in technology. Especially in Lebanon, we respect and would like to boost our relation, our exchange with the Chinese people, and our cooperation in many fields in order to boost that relation for a mutual future in many fields.

Mustapha Sesay: It is very necessary to partner with China

Mustapha Sesay (Managing Editor of Standard Times Newspaper in Sierra Leone): This is my first time visiting Guangdong. The high-tech process is very good and very interesting. We are exposed to a lot of these things. We'll be reading about them, but now we are seeing, feeling, and searching there. We get a taste of what it is to be a high-tech country. There are lots we are getting. I've seen a lot of things which show how great this company is. If we want to progress, there's a need to partner with China and get the benefits, get their skills, and then put it into practice in our own countries.

Roger Agambire Agana: The technological advancement is massive in China

Roger Agambire Agana (Editor-in-Chief of News Ghana): This is my first time coming to China. I'm so impressed with the kind of advancement and the way they have narrated the whole thing. In fact, it has baffled me. I can see that China is the future because I have traveled to other places in the world. I've seen advancement in technology but not this massive, this kind of advancement, technological advancement I'm seeing here. I'm so impressed. I know that it's not just a seasick and there's something on the ground. We can cooperate on the media skill, just like the way we have organized this kind of conference to bring us together to network, share ideas, and learn. And I'm sure with more of this kind of cooperation will be able to advance in the same space.

Additionally, several overseas reporters experienced self-driving cars in Guangzhou. Let’s have a look.

Igor Mekina: Chinese cars are advanced in technology

Igor Mekina (Director, Editor in Chief Insajder.com): I was amazed by the nice car. I couldn't believe that nobody was driving while the vehicle was in normal use. Because of that, I think this project is successful here in China. In Slovenia, we tried similar projects but we're driving in close areas inside big shopping centers, but not in public places or on the real roads. To see how it's functioning on the real road was quite amazing. I think this is the future! I will make a report and publish it on a web page and I made a small video about how it's going on. We will say that China is not faking tech taxis. They are real. You are a pioneer in this field and I think that we should learn something from China!

Ahmed Abdelaziz Mahmoud Sallam: Chinese cars have a huge advantage in quality and prices

Ahmed Abdelaziz Mahmoud Sallam (Advisor and former Under Secretary of Egypt's State Information Service): When I first came to China, it was about 30 years ago. At that time, I couldn’t see cars on the streets. Most people I saw rode bicycles. But with the rapid development of China’s economy, cars fill the roads, and the automotive industry has flourished. At the beginning of China’s auto industry, China imported many cars from the United States, Japan, etc. Now Chinese cars have huge advantages in quality and price. Today in the GAC, we saw some concept cars that we never saw before.

At the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), they experienced AI, metaverse, etc.

Ismail Caglar: Media needs to tell stories of technologies and innovation

Ismail Caglar (Executive board member of Anadolu Agency from Turkiye): It is a lovely country as far as I see, and I'm trying to explore the people and the environment. For now, I am quite excited and quite happy to be here. I'm impressed (by) the University (HKUST(GZ)), the University campus, and the studies conducted here. This may be the main outcome of the visit of today. Maybe I can say that the media globally and locally must have more focus on the good stories. For example, the stories about the technologies, (how) technology makes people's lives easier, and stories about innovation and entrepreneurship. From this perspective, I can say that the media have responsibilities to tell this kind of stories.

Dharmendra Jha: This is a very beautiful journey in Guangzhou

Dharmendra Jha (Executive Chairman of National News Agency of Nepal): This is a very beautiful journey and a nice visit to this institution. I got the opportunity to see this institution and how this university is working here, and how they have discipline or how they have new ideas. Basically, I am very much impressed by the AI section. It is a good memory for me.

Sci-tech innovation has played a key role in promoting China's high-quality development and modernization.
